Washing your hair is a vital part of your hair care routine, but how often should you do it? Hair maestro Kim Robinson shares:
Q: How often you should wash your hair?
Kim Robinson: If you play sports every day, you should wash it daily. If you’re indoors and not sweaty, it’s actually OK to go for days before washing it.
However, if cleansing it every day requires a quality product that is suited to your scalp and hair type. It is important to consider your scalp condition, though most only think about their hair type when they choose a hair product. If you don’t have a healthy scalp, you don’t have healthy hair.
Q: Is it a good idea to double-cleanse your hair?
Kim Robinson: This depends on the product you're using. But double-cleansing with a silicone-based product is not going to help... in fact, it could make it worse.
If there’s a lot of product build-up in your hair, you can do it twice to make sure it's cleansed out. But if you're cleansing regularly like most people, once is enough. This is especially so if you use our Cleansing Clay. Using it allows you to cleanse just once for clean hair and a healthy scalp. In fact, based on our test, we have received feedback that kimrobinson Cleansing Clay keeps the hair cleaner for longer.
An important pre-wash ritual is actually brushing the hair while it is dry with a scalp brush before cleansing. (Read more about it here.)
